Chale Abbey Studios is a residential recording studio set within the grounds of one of the oldest buildings on the Isle of Wight — a short walk from dramatic cliffs and quiet countryside.

Chale Abbey sits within an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty on the south coast of the Isle of Wight, surrounded by countryside, cliffs and a slow rhythm of weather rolling off the Channel.
Nestled within restored stone outbuildings dating back to the 16th century, the studio blends centuries-old character with a cedar-clad control room and a second live room.

There’s no commute. No packing down at the end of the day. You sleep here, the kitchen is yours whenever you need it, and the studio is just through the door.

you can trust.
Designed from scratch by White Mark Ltd with acoustics at the heart of it, this is the kind of space you can spend a full day in and walk out still hearing straight.
The control room is centred around an SSL console, paired with ATC main monitors and a carefully curated selection of world-class outboard gear, spanning vintage classics and modern units, ready for any session.

04 — Accommodation
Room for rest.
The accommodation can be configured to sleep up to eight, featuring three simple, modern rooms and a fully equipped kitchen — perfect for a home-from-home, self-catering stay.
Walks to the Downs or along to the cliffs start at the front door. Most guests find a rhythm of session, walk, dinner, session within a day or two.

Mixing & post
Hybrid analogue/digital mixing in a treated room you can trust. Stems delivered, attended sessions welcome.
Residencies
Residential weeks. Sleep, cook and record on site — extended time tends to make better records.
Writing retreats
A week of quiet for songwriters and producers. Rooms, instruments, the cliffs at the end of the lane.
Live sessions
Stripped-back live recordings — single takes, multitrack. Please get in contact for rates if you would like to use the space to record video.
Pre-production
Use the space to prepare before your recording session. Day rates and short stays available.
